Privacy policy

Last updated 12 October 2026. This policy has two parts: this website, and the Turned Out app for iPhone.

The website

No tracking

This site uses no cookies, no analytics, no advertising pixels, no embeds and no third-party scripts. Fonts and images are served from this site, so loading a page does not contact anyone else.

Hosting

The site is hosted by Cloudflare. To deliver pages and protect the site from attacks, Cloudflare processes the technical details every web request carries, including your IP address and browser type. We have not turned on any Cloudflare analytics or logging features, and we do not keep a log of visitors. The email list

If you leave your email on this site, it's used for one message when the app is ready, and nothing else. In detail:

• What we store: your email address and the date you left it. Until you confirm, we also store a one-time code for the confirmation link; it is deleted when you confirm.
• Where: in a database in our Cloudflare account.
• What we send: one email asking you to confirm, then one email when the app is ready. Both are plain text, with open and click tracking switched off. They are sent through Postmark. Postmark keeps a copy of each email it sends for 45 days, then deletes it.
• How long: an address that is not confirmed within 7 days is deleted. After the launch email goes out, the whole list is deleted.
• Leaving early: write to hello@turnedout.app and we will delete your address.

We never sell, share or add your address to any other list.

The app

• Stays on your phone. Version 1 stores everything you say and write on your iPhone. It has no account and no server, and it sends nothing you say or write to us or anyone else.
• Speech. Speech is turned into text on the phone. If your iPhone can't do that for your language, the app asks you to type instead. Audio is never sent off the phone.
• Notifications. Reminders are scheduled on the phone and never show what you wrote.
• No analytics in the app. The app contains no analytics or advertising code. If you have chosen to share app analytics with developers in your iPhone settings, Apple gives us anonymous totals, such as how many people opened the app again after a week.
• Backups. If you back up your iPhone to iCloud or a computer, Apple's backup may include the app's data. That is covered by Apple's terms, not ours. [To confirm before publishing.]
• Your control. You can export your record or delete everything from the app's settings. Deleting the app also deletes its data from the phone.
• Later features. Sync and AI help will come after launch. Both will be off unless you switch them on, and this policy will be updated before either is available.
